“Little Grass Sprite”
Tony DiTerlizzy has been posting progress on these amazing sprite watercolor paintings and I wanted to do one of my own this weekend. So I did! I haven’t touched my watercolor paint tubes in such a long time. It felt good even though I was rusty.
4x6 watercolor, inks and colored pencils, on hot pressed watercolor paper.
“Preparing for the Science Fair”
After many hours of fighting with what color that background should be, I managed to decide and to finish this illustration completely!
Drawing backgrounds doesn’t give me too much of a struggle, but coloring them? It just takes me forever! But in the end, I’m very happy and proud of the result!
“Preparing for the Science Fair” - Sketch
I have been so busy with a new children’s book project (of which I cannot share anything until it is released) that I have had very little time for sketching or painting for myself. This little fellow is a cumulation of a little 15 minutes here and there of spare time during evenings. (mostly while watching 30 Rock and Breaking Bad)
Cannot wait to put some colors into this one!
“Amour Perdu, amour retrouvé”
This illustration, I can finally share now that the book has been published! I was hired to illustrate a story written by a high-school student for the Commission scolaire de Montréal. The story was about a ghost coming back for her lost love. She was a bit obsessed and so I decided to use the words she kept repeating in the illustration itself to create tension.
“The Firebird’s Bride” - Sketch
This is an almost feverish sketch. I needed to sketch/paint something for myself today. I hate when this happens because I just cannot focus on anything until I indulge. That is especially bad when you have work to do. I still managed to get work down before I started sketching this though.
This still needs a lot of fixing. The phoenix has a lot of problems, the head is too big, the wings are odd. There needs to be a castle in the back. Right now it’s just a blurb. But hopefully, more to come soon!
